Size: 3 to 9 ft. high, 4-5 ft. wide.

Flowers: Tubular yellow fragrant flowers to 5 in. long, early summer and beyond, followed by dark black glossy  berries; hairy lance-shaped mid-green leaves.

Uses: Background, screen, wildlife garden, near oak trees, in wind. Fire resistive.

Wildlife: Hummingbirds, bees, butterflies.

Soil: Well-drained; comes from moist soil areas.

Water: Medium (comes from moist soil in forests, etc.).

Sun: Full sun to some shade.

Pruning: Thin out old growth and crowded stems after bloom. Can be cut to ground.

Pests & Diseases: Aphids, serpentine leaf minors, and scales. Few disease problems.

Notes: Hardy to -10° F.
