Flowers: Very small pink flowers, spring; small 0.5 in. leaves, dark green all year.

Uses: Ground cover, slopes, near oak trees. Fire resistive.

Wildlife: Flowers, pollen, and fruit for birds, bees, butterflies. Deer resistant.

Soil: Well-drained; prefers slightly acid loam soil.

Water: Periodic deep watering, especially in heat (2-3 weeks); doesn’t like overhead watering.

Sun: Full sun to some shade.

Pruning: Rarely.

Pests & Diseases: Overwatering or poorly-draining soil causes root rot.

Notes: A hybrid between A. uva-ursi and A. nummularia from the chapparal and coastal scrub plant communities of California. Hardy to 0° F.
