Uses: Along wet or dry streams, in water, along with stones and pebbles; movement, shape and color accent. Tolerates heat. Fire resistive.

Soil: Tolerates a variety, including soggy soil.

Water: Medium to high. Although drought tolerant, it likes moist soil. Can be grown where more water is used.

Sun: Full sun to full shade.

Pruning: Rake out dead stalks to freshen. Can be sheared to ground in winter to renew, but takes time to regrow.

Notes: Found in the hills near the town of Elk, California. Will seed itself. Hardy to 0° F.
