Flowers: Bright gold to bronze to red flowers, 2 in. wide, spring to autumn; leaves up to 5 in. long, gray-green. Flower “petals” are actually leaf bracts.

Water: Regular water; established plants tolerate some drought, but dry soil will kill them.

Notes: Formerly named Helichrysum bracteatum. Flower heads can be dried and used in arrangements. Use low-phosphorous fertilizer. Short-lived. Many cultivars feature different colored flowers. Hardy to 30° F.
